Set priorities before drawing
List the people, activities and relationships the project must support. A house may need shaded family gathering spaces; a hotel may need a distinct guest arrival and a separate service route. Turn these needs into an area schedule and adjacency plan.
Review the edges together
The doorway between interior and courtyard affects levels, drainage, shading and furniture placement. Review these interfaces with the relevant consultants before each discipline finalises its drawings. One coordinated section can reveal conflicts that separate mood boards cannot.
Keep a shared decision record
Record the preferred option, why it was selected and who approved it. When budget or programme changes, the team can revisit the decision with its original purpose intact. Ask for this record at each design milestone.
